They have 2 isolated inputs to handle two power sources like a primary and backup source for uninterrupted failsafe operation. The input and output power are isolated so they can be used to convert a negative voltage to a positive voltage. Because of their wide input voltage and regulated output, they can also be used to stabilize a voltage output.
